Social Entrepreneurship to Transform Culture, Economy and the Environment

This seminar will introduce participants to the field of social entrepreneurship and the possibilities it offers in developing and sustaining businesses and initiatives that intend to transform culture, economy and the environment. Some of the ideas that will be explored in this seminar include outlining action plans that are sustainable and effective while ensuring local capacity, wisdom, resources and initiatives are not undermined.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- To introduce participants to the field of social entrepreneurship and the possibilities it offers in developing and sustaining businesses and initiatives that intend to transform culture, economy and the environment
- Providing an overview of effective action plans that are sustainable and effective while ensuring community’s capacity, wisdom, resources and initiatives are not undermined.
Facilitators- Dr. Mark Durieux (holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Calgary, and currently teaches in the Department of Sociology at the Mount Royal University) & Mr. John Lamming (holds M.A. in History from the University of Windsor and a Professional Development Certificate in Peace and Conflict Studies from the Rotary Peace Center at Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok, Thailand). He currently works with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police).
This seminar is approved for ACSW Category “A” credits by the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary”. Sign in at the start and sign out at the end of presentation is required to be eligible for ACSW Category A credits. No partial credits are available.
